Ralph Vaughan Williams (1872-1958) is a highly respected British composer. His operas, however, have received the least amount of recognition in comparison to his other musical forms. This opera, Sir John in Love, an opera in four acts, includes libretto by Vaughan Williams and is based on Shakespeare’s The Merry Wives of Windsor.
